I have no trouble with shooting the moon. I've done it myself based on the cards dealt me. Yes, it does take some skill. My only problem with it are the players where it seems the only way the can win is to purposely shoot the moon. Happened a litle bit ago, and the 3 other plays left as it ruined the game for us. Still haven't played against anyone that does it regularly ranked higher than I am. I also agree with Maxoxo. As one of the over 50 crowd, we need better "older" characters.

puzzlgirl - If you go by the standard way of scoring, the person with the lowest points, even if someone else wins the game is the true winner. You get a point for every heart you have, and 13 for the Q of Spades. I'm only assuming here they follow the same method. The player who continually has the least points compared to other players advances in rank.

I love playing this game. Played it since I was a child. I just prefer not to rely on "tricks". If shooting the moon is such a good skill, then why are none of the players that do it on a regular basis ranked higher than me?

To those that think that winning by shooting the moon/sun on purpose is fine. The idea is to win. BUT - by your own skills. Not by manipulating the game by throwing it on purpose. If that's the only way you can win... It's not fair to those that DO use their skills, and not tricks.

It's pretty sad that some players intentionally shoot the moon/sun just to win a hand. How pathetic!

Thanks FATPEN! It would be so much better without the "instant replays" which mess up my concentration. In RL the only thing that did was the beer frame. LOL! You're right, this game is addictive.
